I, (Name of the student) would like to speak a few words about today’s auspicious day. Today is 26th January 71th Republic Day of our country. This is a day for all of us to celebrate and honour our nation.
This is a day to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters whose efforts gave us independence and created our Republic. India became independent on 15 August 1947 from British rule.
However, the Constitution of India came into force on 26th January 1950. Since then we celebrate Republic Day every year. Republic means that the citizens of the country have the right to elect its leaders to lead the country.
Our country has developed a lot after we got independence from the British in 1947: but our country is also facing some problems like terrorism, inequality, unemployment, corruption, etc. Let us all pledge today to do our best in solving

రిపబ్లిక్ డే..అంటే దీని ప్రాముఖ్యత తెలియని జనానికి ఇదొక సాధారణ సెలవు రోజు. సరదాగా ఇంటి పట్టున ఉంటూ సినిమాలు, షికార్లు, షాపింగ్‌లతోనూ కాలం వెల్లదీస్తారు. దేశ స్వాతంత్రం కోసం త్యాగాలు చేసి తమ ప్రాణాలనే తృణప్రాయంగా భావించి, స్వరాజ్య యజ్ఞంలో సమిధలైన గొప్ప వ్యక్తులను ఈ రోజు ఎంత మంది స్మరిస్తున్నారు? జాతీయ సెలవు రోజున ఎంత మంది వారి ఆదర్శాలను వల్లించు కుంటున్నారు? దేశ స్వాతంత్ర మీద నేటి యువతకి ఎంత అవగాహన ఉంది? అన్న అంశాలపై ఎవరైనా సర్వే నిర్వహిస్తే సిగ్గుతో తలదించుకునే విషయాలు వెలుగుచూస్తాయి.
అసలు రిపబ్లిక్‌డేను జనవరి 26నే ఎందుకు జరుపుకోవాలి? అనే ఈ ప్రశ్నకు సరైన సమాధానం చాలా మందికి తెలియదు. దేశానికి 1947 ఆగస్టు 15న స్వాతంత్రం సిద్ధించింది.. అలాగే 1950 జనవరి 26 నుంచి రాజ్యాంగం అమల్లోకి వచ్చింది… కాబట్టి ఏటా అదే తేదీన రిపబ్లిక్ డే జరుపుకుంటున్నామని భావిస్తారు. ఇందులో కాస్త నిజం లేకపోలేదు. అయితే దీని వెనుక బలమైన కారణం ఉంది. వాస్తవానికి భారత రాజ్యాంగాన్ని 1949 నవంబరు 26నే ఆమోదించారు. దీనిని అమలు చేసే తేదీకి ఒక ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉండాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో రెండు నెలలు ఆగారు.

లాహోర్ వేదికగా 1930 జనవరి 26న కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ జాతీయ సమావేశంలో తొలిసారిగా పూర్ణ స్వరాజ్యం తీర్మానం చేశారు. రావీ నది ఒడ్డున త్రివర్ణ పతాకం ఎగురవేసి భారతీయుల సంకల్పాన్ని బ్రిటిషర్లకు గట్టిగా వినిపించారు. అప్పటి దాకా కేవలం రాజకీయ, ఆధ్యాత్మిక స్వాతంత్రం వస్తే చాలు, సంపూర్ణ అధికారం భ్రిటిష్ వారి చేతుల్లోనే ఉండి, దేశం సామంత రాజ్యంగా మిగిలిపోయినా ఫర్వాలేదనుకునేలా ఉన్న రాజకీయ నేతల వైఖరిని జలియన్‌వాలాబాగ్ ఉదంతం ఒక్కసారిగా ఉలిక్కిపడేలా చేసింది.
నాడు సుభాష్ చంద్రబోస్, జవహర్‌లాల్ నెహ్రూ లాంటి నేతలు కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీలో వేడి పుట్టించి పూర్ణ స్వరాజ్య తీర్మానం ప్రకటన చేయించడంలో సఫలమయ్యారు. ఆ రోజునే స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవంగా పరిగణించాల్సిందని కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ దేశ ప్రజలకు పిలుపు కూడా ఇచ్చింది. అంతటి చారిత్రక ప్రాధాన్యం ఉన్న తేదీకి చిరస్థాయి కల్పించాలన్న సదుద్దేశంతో నవభారత నిర్మాతలు మరో రెండు నెలలు ఆగి 1950 జనవరి 26 నుంచి రాజ్యాంగాన్ని అమల్లోకి తెచ్చారు.
నాటితో ఈ రోజున బ్రిటీష్ కాలంనాటి భారత ప్రభుత్వ చట్టం 1935 రద్దుకాబడి, భారతదేశం సర్వసత్తాక, సామ్యవాద, లౌకిక, ప్రజాస్వామ్య, గణతంత్ర రాజ్యంగా అవతరించింది. స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చిన తర్వాత దేశానికి రాజ్యాంగం ఉండాలని భావించిన నాటి దార్శినికులు, మేధావులు రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్‌‌ను ఏర్పాటుచేశారు.
దీనికి అధ్యక్షుడిగా డాక్టర్‌ బాబూ రాజేంద్రప్రసాద్‌ ఎన్నిక కాగా, డాక్టర్‌ అంబేడ్కర్‌ ఛైర్మన్‌గా రాజ్యాంగ ముసాయిదా కమిటీ ఏర్పడింది. రాజ్యాంగ రచనకు ఎంతోమంది మేధావులు వివిధ దేశాల రాజ్యాంగాలను పరిశీలించి, అధ్యాయనం చేసి ప్రజాస్వామ్య విధానంగా రూపొందించారు. అనేక సవరణల అనంతరం, 1949 నవంబర్‌ 26న దీనిని రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్‌ ఆమోదించింది. భారత రాజ్యాంగాన్ని రూపొందించేందుకు రెండు సంవత్సరాల, 11 నెలల, 18 రోజుల కాలం పట్టింది.
